Q: Who are you looking to contribute to the magazine?
A: We welcome anyone with specialized knowledge in a relevant niche. You could be a nurse, lawyer, homeschool parent, elderly care practitioner, Boy Scout leader, retired military member, small engine mechanic — anyone who practices prepping and has expertise in a specific area. If you have skills, insights, or experience that could help others strengthen their preparedness, Tertiary Prepper™ is the vehicle to share that knowledge with the community.
Q: What types of articles are you looking for?
A: Please visit the Tertiary Articles section of the site, then use the dropdown menu to see the many subcategories (Culture, Psychology, Logistics, Skills, Systems, Knowledge Base). Each has numerous topics that contributors can write about. Choose a subject you are knowledgeable about and that other preppers could benefit from.
Q: How long does it take to hear back on an article submission?
A: It varies, but you can expect a response within two to four weeks depending on the number of submissions we receive. We review every piece carefully to ensure it adds value to our readers.
Q: Is there a particular style of writing you are looking for?
- Strong, clear headlines (grab attention and set the theme).
- Intro paragraph/hook (set the stage, tell readers why this matters).
- Subheadings and sections (break content into digestible chunks).
- Lists, callouts, or step-by-step instructions where applicable.
- Photos or diagrams (if available but not required).
- Closing paragraph with a takeaway or final thought.
Q: Do I get paid for submissions?
A: No. At this stage, all submissions are voluntary and unpaid. However, contributors will receive full credit, a short bio with a link (if desired), and exposure to our readership. You will also be part of building a unique resource for the preparedness community. It is our hope to be able to offer gift cards for “Best Article of the Month” or something to that affect in the future.
Q: Can I republish my article elsewhere after submitting?
A: Yes, but we ask that Tertiary Prepper™ is credited as the original publication if your article first appears here.
Q: Can I submit under a pen name or anonymously?
A: Absolutely. We respect OPSEC and anonymity. You may publish under a pseudonym if you prefer.
Q: Do you edit submissions?
A: Yes. Submissions may be lightly edited for clarity, grammar, or length, but we strive to maintain your voice and intent.
Q: How long should articles be?
A: Ideally 800–1,500 words. Shorter “how-to” guides are welcome if concise and useful. Longer deep dives may also be accepted if the topic warrants it.
Q: What if my article does not fit exactly into one category?
A: That is fine! Many topics cross between Culture, Psychology, and Logistics. Just submit it under the closest fit, and we will make the final call on placement.
Q: Why should I contribute to Tertiary Prepper™?
Answer: Because tertiary prepping is about connecting overlooked skills and knowledge. By contributing, you help others see beyond the basics and strengthen the prepping community.
